About Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas
Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas is a leading Spain|Spanish construction company based in Barcelona. It is publicly traded and is part of the IBEX 35.
Over 50% of the shares are owned by a company controlled by Esther Koplowitz and others.
History
The business was founded in Barcelona in 1900 as Fomento de Obras y Construcciones S.A. and became known as FOCSA. In 1992 FOCSA merged with Construcciones y Contratas, a company founded in Madrid in 1944 to form Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas, S.A.

Major projects
Major projects involving the company include the Torre Picasso completed in 1988,[1] Puerta de Europa completed in 1996[2] and El Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe completed in 2000.[3] The company is also involved in the construction of Torre Caja Madrid due to complete in 2008.[4].
